Amazon Australia set to recruit more than 2000 seasonal workers

Amazon Australia has announced it will recruit more than 2000 new seasonal workers across Australia in preparation for the busy holiday period — including more than 60 in Perth.

The e-commerce giant plans to onboard the workers at its fulfilment centres and logistics sites in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle and the Gold Coast between now and Black Friday, with no experience required.

Perth’s fulfilment centre — where orders are picked, packed and shipped around the country — is located near Perth Airport.

Amazon Australia director of operations Mindy Espidio-Garcia said Amazon employees could expect to receive competitive benefits, as well as ongoing opportunities for career growth within the company.

“Whatever your personal or professional situation, there’s a job or earning opportunity for you with Amazon,” she said.

“Seasonal roles are great for those who want something shorter term like students on their summer break, while flexible opportunities are perfect for those who want to earn around their existing schedule or are looking for an additional income stream.

Seasonal roles may present a path to permanent employment and a long-term career at Amazon.

“This might be a parent who wants some additional money for gifts this holiday season, someone saving for their summer getaway or a retiree who’s looking for something to keep them busy while earning a bit of extra cash.”

Ms Espidio-Garcia said seasonal roles may present a path to permanent employment and a long-term career at Amazon.

As well as a wide range of jobs on offer within Amazon’s logistics sites, the company also has additional earning opportunities for those who prefer a more flexible work arrangement with Amazon Flex.

The flexible role allows workers to deliver Amazon packages using their own vehicle, giving them the opportunity to work when it suits them and earn extra money in their free time.

The latest opportunities are in addition to 1250 permanent jobs created across Amazon Australia’s operations sites this year.

The vacancies come as Australians face increased cost-of-living pressure in the lead-up to the holiday season.
