All in the finer details

A seamless picture of luxury design and liveability, this bespoke two-level Applecross home was designed to invoke a five-star resort.

With an emphasis on indoor-outdoor connectivity, floor-to-ceiling glass captures copious natural light and the property’s stunning pool and entertaining area.

Azure Luxury Homes Director Steve Di Fulvio said the client’s brief was for a truly architectural, contemporary home for a family to create memories in.

“This client has a young, growing family, so it was important to have a seamless integration both internally and externally as a family home – such as the way the pool integrates with the barbecue and hard court areas.

“That’s basically what was big for them.”

Mr Di Fulvio said the client had a virtual scrapbook of ideas, colours and details they were passionate about, and Azure Luxury Homes aimed to incorporate these details into a cohesive, free-flowing design package.

The resulting generously sized home has no shortage of open space for the kids to run around.

“It simply flows well,” Mr Di Fulvio said. “You’ve got full-height glass, with minimalistic aluminium joinery to keep the sense of spaciousness.

“There’s also the use of natural timber and similar materials as well, to give an architectural but warm feeling to the home.”

From the strikingly unique and contemporary street facade through to the rear of the home, the abode has a commanding presence, with the beautiful tall glass at the rear bringing the pool and outdoor areas right into the living room.

This house is all about visuals, according to Mr Di Fulvio.

“It’s modern with clean lines and a large cantilevered roof supported by off-form concrete elements,” he said. “It’s all custom, one-off – everything is very minimalistic and seamless.”

Taking full advantage of the block, the home is single storey but split-levelled.

To accommodate significant garage space without compromising the precious room of the house and rear yard, the decision was made to implement an undercroft garage. It has room for six to eight vehicles and is accompanied by a cellar and an activity room, which adds to the family-friendly design.

For extra flexibility, the activity room can also be utilised as a gym.

The upper level consists of four bedrooms, a theatre, a library and a living, dining and kitchen space, complete with a scullery.

The large kitchen has considerable options for storage, with glass splashbacks providing a view to the pristine external landscaping. The kitchen, scullery and laundry are all interconnected for the utmost convenience, reducing the walking time between these spaces.

Mr Di Fulvio said a fully self-contained cabana alongside the pool was ideal for extended family, or in the event the kids were in no rush to leave home.

The master ensuite is the definition of luxury, with a freestanding tub, gold tapware and an abundance of space.

The resort-inspired master suite boasts views of the pool and rear yard and a massive dressing room. A 1.5m diameter round skylight bathes the space in natural light, providing glimpses of blue sky which results in a dressing room like few others.

The ensuite, designed to be economical in size, still delivers the space, comfort and vanity lengths expected from a home of this quality, according to Mr Di Fulvio.

“The home’s potential to entertain cannot be overstated,” he said. “The dining room can be combined with the outdoor alfresco by opening up sliding doors that completely disappear into a cavity, and there is plenty of circulation space around the island benches in the kitchen and alfresco.

“This house is an entertainer’s dream and has enough space for the largest of functions.”
