AFL trades 2018: Demons give Fremantle a clip over Jesse Hogan dealings

Melbourne football manager Josh Mahoney has given Fremantle a public clip over their trade offer for key forward Jesse Hogan.

The Dockers on Thursday tabled pick No.11 and their 2019 second-round pick for the 23-year-old spearhead, an offer which was swiftly rejected by the Demons.

The Dees are understood to be standing firm on a top-10 pick needing to be involved in the transaction, which the Dockers could still get by agreeing to trade Lachie Neale to Brisbane. Melbourne would then use that pick to try and recruit Gold Coast defender Steven May.

Speaking outside AFL House on Friday, Mahoney made his feelings about Fremantle’s offer very clear.

“Basically, if Fremantle want to get Jesse Hogan, they know the deal they have to give for us and Jesse’s aware of that,” he said.

“They haven’t spoken to us about anything that entertains us at all about doing a deal.

“We’ve got other deals we want to do. At the moment the moment the offer they’re giving to us doesn’t help us in any way.”
