AFL grand final 2022: Tom Hawkins and Geelong Cats in first quarter blitz against Sydney Swans

Geelong have picked up where they left off in the preliminary final, making a white-hot start to the decider as Tom Hawkins and Issac Smith boot two goals each.

Booked as a legacy-defining game for superstars Patrick Dangerfield and Lance Franklin, the nerves were high early from both sides.

But it was another wily veteran determined not to be out shone who stole the show.

After providing the cutest moment in grand final history with young Levi Ablett, Joel Selwood dominated the opening term for the Cats.
