2021 Audi SQ5 TDI revealed

Audi has revealed its updated Q5 TDI, with the performance SUV due in Australia in the second quarter of 2021.

It once again has a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel, which has been tweaked for better efficiency — but has lost some power.

Its 251kW is down on the current SQ5, while 700Nm is still on offer and the 5.1-second 0-100km/h time is unchanged.

The pistons are now forged steel to reduce heat loss, other changes include a water-to-air intercooler, a shorter intake and a smaller turbocharger compressor for less lag when you plant your foot.

A pair of catalytic convertors means less emissions, how ever the tech may not be required on Australian vehicles due to our more relaxed protocols.

The SQ5 sits 30mm lower than the standard Q5 on an adjustable sports suspension, while variable sports steering and a limited-slip rear differential are available.

More details will be revealed closer to launch.
