A 13-year-old boy has been charged with murder in relation to the 2021 murder of a Canberra man.
Glenn Walewicz, 48, was allegedly shot in the chest after he answered the door of his home in Phillip before midnight on June 10 last year.
Police say there was a woman inside the house who called emergency services. They attended the scene, but Mr Walewicz died of a gunshot wound.
The 13-year-old from the Canberra suburb of Moncrieff is the fifth person to be charged over the death but only the third to be charged with the joint commission of murder.
He has also been charged with attempted aggravated burglary.
The teen attended the City police station with his mother on Wednesday before being arrested by ACT Policing homicide detectives.
He will appear before the ACT Children’s Court on Thursday.
The arrest comes only days after a 24-year-old NSW man from Baradine was the fourth person to be charged with Mr Walewicz’s murder.
A few days prior to the fourth arrest, a 38-year-old Holt woman was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact and conspiracy to commit aggravated burglary.
In the same week, an 18-year-old man was charged with Mr Walewicz’s murder. Police said multiple witnesses, surveillance footage, and phone records led to the arrest.
A 19-year-old man has also been charged with accessory to murder after a car allegedly driven by the teen was found near the victim’s home.
