12-year-old Jack Ward was robbed at knife point while walking home from school in Fremantle

A child has been left frightened after he was robbed at knife-point while walking home from school in Fremantle.

Jack Ward, 12, was listening to music through his ear phones when a man wearing a balaclava stopped him on High Street in Fremantle and told him to empty his pockets and take off his sneakers.

Jack told 7NEWS the thug stole $10 pocket money and threw his sneakers into the water before running off.

“Out of nowhere someone with a knife tells me to empty my pockets and take off my shoes and socks,” he said. “I was very scared so I did what he said and didn’t say anything.”

Shaken from the attack, Jack grabbed his shoes from the water and was forced to continue his 45-minute commute home to Bayswater barefoot.

His mother Rebecca Healy said her son did not return to school for the week.

“He was just a bit too overwhelmed catching public transport on his own,” she said.

“We are going to try and support him through that next week.”

The man is described as being tall with white skin, brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a balaclava, a black shirt and trackies.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
